So, yeah, I'm still a-'strolling' for the office of Spring City Councilman.
The races seem to have heated up a bit, with campaign signs popping up here and there, and mailers showing up in PO Boxes. I don't know what to think of this; it seems a bit over-the-top for an election such as ours, though. Words and slogans are lost on me unless they carry the weight of experience, personality, and human feelings. Campaign promises are so much chaff in the wind until such ideals are carried into effect, and who knows what the reality of the office of councilman is until the mantel is donned? Why make promises and shallow statements of purpose with only the weight of blurb and soundbite to back it up?
All we can do is try our best and hope to live up to the history we've built up in our personal lives and collectively in the town. That's what life's all about, after all.

I happen to be running for office in Spring City.
Why?
Well- there's the usual litany of reasons; I want to improve things in the town by listening to citizen input, I'd like to specifically improve life for families and their children, and I sure would be happy to help foster a more compassionate atmosphere and enable cooperation within the community.
I don't believe much in stumping or campaigning. If my twelve-odd years in Spring City haven't created enough consensus or recognition to elect me to office right now, I reckon I have a few more years to spend living my life and serving my fellowman through that life before I can be hope to be elected.
If you don't already know, I make my living as a teacher. I work with those society calls 'at-risk' or 'troubled' youth. I have done this for sixteen years or so, and I love it. It's difficult at times, but it's rewarding labor.
I am helping my sweetheart, Diedre, to raise our eight children. We chose Spring City as our home because of associations with residents over the years and a past history in the area through my predecessors. We think we made a pretty good choice.
Pretty much, that's why I would like to participate in our city government.
